DCPCR instituted a child helpline service with the Helpline No. 9311551393 functional on all days from 9.30 AM till 11.00 PM. With a full team of operators working on the backend, who have been trained on matters pertaining to children's rights, the helpline aims to be an accessible way for anyone to reach out to the Commission on any information/grievance related to children's welfare.
The Helpline, in its 12 months of operations, has handled a call volume of nearly 2.07 lakhs and has addressed thousands of grievances which include issues like denial of admission, Anganwadi Services, Child Marriage, Child Labour, Missing Child, Child Begging etc.
The Helpline project is also supported by its field-wing, the Emergency Response Team. This field operations team has been set up to physically reach out to children in distressed and SOS situations. With a robust control unit and a monitoring system, this team reaches out to children in distress within 30-40 minutes of receiving a grievance call. Since its beginning in June 2022, the HRS team has taken up 350+ cases.
The emergency helpline team not only provides relief to children who are in need of help but also proactively undertakes preventive measures and conducts field visits to protect vulnerable children at the risk of child marriage, child labour, trafficking etc.
