Delhi has approximately 5800 schools covered under Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 i.e schools administered, aided and regulated by Directorate of Education, East Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, New Delhi Municipal Council and Delhi Cantonment Board.
This Commission is in the process of conducting a comprehensive school evaluation of all schools in Delhi. This will be an independent, credible and comprehensive school assessment on matters such as safety provisions, academic achievement, community participation, social inclusion etc thereby enabling improvement in the quality of learning. Evaluation is meant to provide information to parents about their child's school performance, devise a system that appreciates well performing schools, mechanisms for efficient administration and governance and improving the accountability on government.
